Featured Member: Wise Device Inc.
As part of our Featured Member series, Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight Wise Device Inc. (WDI), a Polish-Canadian family business whose story is one of innovation, perseverance, and community.
Founded in 2005 by Dr. Adam Weiss (PhD), with the help of his wife Dorothy Weiss and his two daughters Halszka and Marcelina Weiss. WDI saw its humble beginnings in the basement of the family home. What started as a small family venture has since grown into a team of around 80 employees, developing and manufacturing advanced microscopy automation technologies used by companies around the world.
WDI specializes in the research, design, engineering, and manufacturing of microscopy automation components and solutions. Its autofocus technology helps keep microscopes precisely focused during imaging and inspection processes – technology that plays a role in industries ranging from semiconductor and electronics manufacturing to biomedical research and diagnostic imaging. Today, WDI’s technology supports the work of major global companies across the semiconductor, electronics, and biomedical industries.

Continuing her father’s legacy, Halszka Weiss is the current president of WDI with the help of Dorothy Weiss (Senior Administrator) and Marcelina Weiss (Special Projects). The Weiss Family immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1989. She earned her MBA in 2007 from Durham University, UK, before taking on the role of Vice President of Operations and ultimately becoming President in 2019.
Her Polish heritage continues to influence the way Miss Weiss views education, resilience, and innovation. She particularly credits the strong emphasis on education and knowledge that she experienced through her family and Polish roots. Today, WDI continues to maintain connections with Poland, including collaboration with a Polish client located near the family’s roots in Wrocław.

At the heart of WDI’s success is its focus on people. The company emphasizes innovation, learning, collaboration, accountability, and strong relationships with employees, customers, and partners.
Giving back is equally important for WDI. The company supports university students through bursaries, welcomes student co-op opportunities, supports community organizations and employee initiatives, and contributes to charitable causes. For WDI, success is not simply about the growth of the business but just as importantly about strengthening the communities around it.
As the company looks toward the future, its goal is continued, steady growth while investing in its people and developing new technologies.
Why WDI Is a Proud Member of the CPCC
For WDI, membership in Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce provides an opportunity to connect with other Polish-Canadian entrepreneurs, discover what others in the community are building, and find new ways to contribute to the community.
“We find it very important to give back to the community, whether it’s the Polish community or the community at large in Canada.”
WDI’s story is a great example of the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within the Polish-Canadian business community.
In 2026, WDI was recognized as an award recipient at the Excellence Awards Gala, receiving the Excellence in Advanced Technology award in recognition of its innovation and contributions to advanced technology.
We are proud to have WDI as part of Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce community.
