March 21, 2023, Mississauga, ON – On the invitation from Mississauga’s Mayor Bonnie Crombie, the Chamber represented by its President, Waldemar Halek, its Advisory Board member Alicja Wojewnik, CEO, dicentra; and Anna Kaminska, Head of Human Resources and Legal Affairs, dicentra, met a delegation from Poland representing medical and life sciences industries. A number of members of Mississauga City Council participated in the meeting along representatives of the City and the Region of Peel. Poland’s side, in addition to the delegation, was represented by Witold Dzielski, Poland’s Ambassador, Magdalena Pszczolkowska, Consul General in Toronto, Romi Jaszczynski, Head of Polish Trade and Investment Agency in Toronto (Chamber’s Advisory Board member) and other Polonia organizations.

The Polish delegation was led by Poland’s Minister of Health, Dr. Adam Niedzielski. Among other participants were Dr. Radosław Sierpiński (President, Medical Research Agency, Prime Minister’s High Representative for Development of Biotechnology), Dr. Grzegorz Cessak (President, The Office for Registration of Medicinal Products), Dr. Marek Migdał (CEO, Children’s Memorial Health Institiute, Warsaw), Ms. Kinga Martofel (International Collaboration), Ms. Magdalena Bartnik-Jaszewska (Director of the Bureau of the Minister at Ministry of Health), Dr. Karolina Maria Nowak (Director of Innovation and Biotechnology Development Department, Medical Research Agency) and Dr. Ewa Ołdak (Advisor, The Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products).

Representatives shared experiences and strategies related to life sciences and medical sectors. A common issue was shortage of medical staff with a solution seen in investments in technology.
